The news that Lady Thatcher died reminded me of what a strong voice she had and how much I admired her tenacity and gumption. News reports say "The Queen has consented that Baroness Thatcher will have a
Ceremonial funeral, at St. Paul's Cathedral, with full military honors." A fitting ending for the Iron Lady. I realize many Britons didn't hold her in the high esteem I feel but she seemed to do her best. And after all is said and done isn't that what we want people to think about us? She tried.
One of the books that I'm currently reading is "Madness, Mayhem, and the Rebirth of the British Monarchy: Shooting Victoria" by Paul Thomas Murphy. Queen Victoria reigned for over 60 years, and during that time, at least eight attempts were made on her life. Through it all Victoria's wit and strength endured.
"It is worth being shot at to see how much one is loved."
Spring has blossomed in my neck of the wood. 80 degrees and splendidly sunny today.
